WHAT IS ONE THING I'D LIKE EVERYONE TO KNOW ABOUT ME?
The one thing to know about me is that I am constantly learning God always has something more for us, which is even more profound and powerful when we DO LIFE TOGETHER!
The Church...you and I...have the opportunity to do life together. Individuals, families, neighborhoods, and communities need the Church. Nothing on earth comes close to the Church. And, we come together in all of our differences...from who we are to where we have been...experiencing life together with Christ.
HOW WOULD I DESCRIBE MYSELF?
I love people. It's all about doing life together. Being together is reason enough to throw a party. Celebration is part of who I am.
For me, life is a journey of trust in the good times, difficulties, and downright hard times. Regardless of what the journey of life is like, I have learned that when we share life together with God and one another, we can not only manage life, but live well.
SOME FUN FACTS ABOUT ME ARE:
I love to be in conversation with friends as well as people I meet for the first time...to hear their story...over coffee...a skinny latte. I love to travel...to go anywhere with my husband...family...friends...to explore places...to walk on the beach...to go to the mountains...to have a cup of hot coffee...and to try just about anything...at least once. I am just starting to learn how to photo journal. And, I love to read and write...a good book, music, and a fire are gifts to replenish my soul.
WHAT I WOULD LIKE EVERYONE TO KNOW ABOUT MY FAMILY:
My husband, Gregg, and I started hanging out together in the hippie days and we still like being together all these years later. Our family, incredible individuals that God has given us to experience life together...is a part of who we are...so when you know us...you will get to know them. Tricia is a lawyer in Salem, Troy is a computer engineer in Wilsonville, Tiffany is an elementary school teacher in Salem, Drew is a high school counselor and football coach in Tualatin, and Tim is a student at George Fox University. And then, there is Madelyn, Tricia and Troy's baby daughter...they are in the process of adopting. We are waiting with great impatience for Madelyn to come home!
WHY DID I BECOME A PASTOR, AND WHAT IS MY MINISTRY EXPERIENCE?
I have been called to be a Pastor since I was a young child. I grew up in the Disciples of Christ denomination where I began leading in Children's Church at age 9, wrote and taught Bible studies since age 12, and as an adult volunteer, formed and led teams to help lead kids and their families in their spirtitual formation.
Even so...I took a long route to becoming a Pastor and became a registered nurse, however, the desire and passion to serve in 'the church' as a Pastor continued. I worked with the wife of the Pastor of Salem First Church of the Nazarene and ended up being hired to serve on the Pastoral Team for almost a decade, and also became the Director of a large women's conference called Oasis. It was all God-driven.
Eventually, I went back to school, attended George Fox Evangelical Seminary, received my Masters of Divinity, and became ordained as an Elder in the Church of the Nazarene. During this time our family attended Church on the Hill while God orchestrated events...Pastor Jerry invited me to work as a Pastor on his team, a God-given assignment.
God has called me to help lead 'the church' into health and wholeness and out into the world to impact society with love and service, bringing others into a relationship with Christ. All these things are only possible through the leading and empowerment of the Spirit of God (See Matthew 19:26).
THE MINISTRIES THAT I OVERSEE AS A PASTOR AT CHURCH ON THE HILL INCLUDE:
I love to work with our team and believe in what Church on the Hill is doing to bring hope to the world. I oversee ministries for adults. The overriding goal in each area is to DO LIFE TOGETHER WITH GOD AND OTHERS.
The avenues to connect are:
interAct...to live purposefully as a courageous Christ follower which includes prayer, ministries, small groups, and classes.
iServe...to use God-given gifts, passion, abilities, personality, and experience to serve in the church and community.
Hope on the Hill...to reach the community and world with hope.
Recovery Ministries...to intentionally live free from hurts, hang-ups, and habits.
Iglesia de la Loma...to worship and minister with the Hispanic community.
I AM COMMITTED TO:
Make prayer the priority over everything.
Fuel the fire that ignites individuals to engage in an active, participating, and dynamic relationship through Christ.
Assist individuals to find the way to live healthy and whole with God and one another.
Help individuals find their gifts and where God wants them to serve.
Develop, equip, and run alongside those who are called to be leaders.
I am passionate about every area of my pastoral responsibilities which also includes counseling, officiating at weddings and funerals, dedicating children, teaching, and occasional preaching.
THERE YOU HAVE IT...DOING LIFE TOGETHER...IT JUST GETS BETTER AND BETTER! |
