Information: WHAT IS ONE THING I'D LIKE EVERYONE TO KNOW ABOUT ME?

I’m the same guy on the platform as I am at home or on the golf course. I do my best to make sure “What you see is what you get”. I also can’t believe that God chose me to do this; it never ceases to amaze me.

HOW WOULD I DESCRIBE MYSELF?

I’m just a regular guy that loves the Lord. I enjoy hanging out with family & friends. I love to laugh and make others laugh. I like nearly all types of music; right now, in my vehicle, I’ve got Coldplay, Keith Whitley, Delirious, Brad Paisley, Hillsong United, Jet, The Eagles, Larry Norman, The Cars, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, The Killers, and a few more. Music I hate: speed metal, most reggae, rap (the new stuff – not the old) and improv jazz.

SOME FUN FACTS ABOUT ME ARE:

· Born & raised in Pensacola Florida, a few miles from the Alabama line

I’ve had WAY too many hobbies in my life. I still love to golf, fish, hunt, bow-hunt, surf, scuba dive, slalom & barefoot ski, sail, fly model airplanes, fly real airplanes, and recently I got to jump out of a real airplane at 13000 ft! Of course then there’s softball and…

I ride a 1978 Suzuki GS1000 that I’m rebuilding when the weather’s nice

I do nearly all of my own mechanic work because I can, NOT because I want to…well, except for the bike

I like cars – old ones. One word – Mopar

I taught myself to play the guitar, but you probably already knew that

WHAT I WOULD LIKE EVERYONE TO KNOW ABOUT MY FAMILY:

Amber & I met at church when we were teenagers. We started dating in high school and were married in 1997. It took us eight years and two In Vitro’s to get pregnant, but when we did – wow. The twins – Aiden & Aubrey – were born in 2006 and are the joy of our lives. God blessed me with the greatest family in the world. The love of my life is also my right hand in the ministry and the mother of the greatest kids ever. I stay in awe of the goodness of God.

I grew up in a very musical family to young parents. Every Saturday morning, the house was filled with music. The first memories I have of music was of groups like The Beach Boys, The Mama’s and the Papa’s, The Bee Gee’s, 2nd Chapter of Acts, and Keith Green to name a few. Those bands and their music had a huge impact on me. These early musical influences are still with me today; thanks Mom & Dad for starting me on this path.

WHY DID I BECOME A PASTOR, AND WHAT IS MY MINISTRY EXPERIENCE?

I became a Christ follower at the age of 18. I never had any desire to be involved in the ministry. A few years later, while in college studying to be an Engineer, I attended a local revival service. During the worship time, I felt the presence of God like I never had before. It was in those moments that God called me to be “set apart” for Him. He gave me a desire for Him like I’d never had and a passion to lead His people in worship.

I’ve now been in the ministry for 16 years; the last 10 of those in full-time ministry. It was never a career choice for me – it was simply an answer to the call. I love what I do and the people I serve with. It is an honor like no other to stand with God’s people and usher them into the presence of the Lord.

THE MINISTRIES THAT I OVERSEE AS A PASTOR AT CHURCH ON THE HILL INCLUDE:

I oversee “all things music” as it relates to the Sunday morning and special services here at COTH. I personally lead at least 3 times a month in the Celebration services and 1 time a month in the Early service. I am responsible for the scheduling and training of all of our Worship Leaders, musicians, and vocalists. I am also responsible for recruiting, scheduling, and developing our technical arts team. This is by far the greatest group of people I’ve ever had the honor and privilege of working with.
