Baptism is an act of obedience symbolizing one's new life in Christ and making public one's decision to follow Christ. It does not make you a Christian but it shows that you have decided to become a Christian--or a Christ follower. Both deciding to become a follower of Jesus and deciding to make that known through baptism are important decisions--decisions each person must make for himself. At Church on the Hill we take great care in helping children with these decisions. We want to make sure that a child is ready to make a heart and head decision to put Jesus in charge of her life and to follow that decision with baptism. For that reason, before a child is baptized at Church on the Hill, a take-home "Becoming a Christian" workbook is given to children and parents to work through together. Following completion of the workbook, children are invited to attend the New Christian Class.
